Interactions Within The Biophysical Environment
The Reef is the largest World Heritage site in the world. There are 13,000 fish species in the world and the reef has 1,500 of them in the area of 344,400 km², there are also 200 bird species, 500 species of seaweed, 600 species of echinoderm, 125 species of shark and 350 species of coral. It was In 1981 When, The Great Barrier Reef was listed by the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation(UNESCO) as a World Heritage site and it was in recognition of the immense biodiversity on the reef system.
